Remember when Brendan Fraser was the it boy for comedy? Ok, neither do I, but he has cranked out some enjoyable comedy hits and has seen some success in his career.
In a bold move, Fraser has taken up a new path and will co-star in a family drama with Harrison Ford.
Fraser will play John Crowley, the father of two children who were diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder for which he’s told there is no cure. Unbowed, he seeks out an experimental and sometimes irascible doctor (Ford) who works to find a way to save the children’s lives. The roles of Fraser’s wife and kids have not yet been cast.
Tom Vaughan (“What Happens in Vegas”) is directing from an adaptation of Geeta Anand’s book “The Cure.”
I honestly have no clue as to what Fraser might do as a dramatic actor. I don’t know of any of his films that were not goofball comedy. I think he does a great job as the underdog role. His last attempt at drama seems to have gone unnoticed.
Perhaps he will surprise the pants off of everyone.
