Aviator team to move to Kurosawa’s Drunken Angel

DrunkenAngel.jpgFrom The Aviator to Kurosawa. Writer, Actor and Director are looking forward to develop a remake of Akira Kurosawa‘s Drunken Angel. Coming Soon:

DiCaprio is attached to star in the film, which Logan would write. The project is being discussed as a potential directing vehicle for Scorsese. Kurosawa’s film, which was set in postwar Japan, centered on a young criminal who is being treated for tuberculosis by an alcoholic doctor.

What is interesting is that Scorsese and DiCaprio are next on The Departed for an Asian remake, then Scorcese is off for an adaptation of the book Silence by a Japanese author. Has Scorsese switched on to what we’ve all known for some time, that the Asian market is bringing us some highly original stories and visually exciting movies?

What a combination though, forgetting all the controversy of remakes and such, Scorsese with Japanese writers? Could be in for a few exciting and interesting movies.
