After taking time out to reproduce and be Cruise’s armcandy, Katie Holmes is returning to film. She will be joining some other notable names in an independent comedy called The Extra Man
Katie Holmes, Paul Dano, Kevin Kline, and John C. Reilly have signed on to the independent comedy based on Jonathan Ames’ overlooked novel by the same name.
Directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini, “Extra Man” follows a failed playwright (played by Kline) who makes his living as a male escort for rich, lonely widows on the Upper East Side. He finds himself acting as a mentor to Paul Dano’s troubled and aspiring playwright.
I would guess that Holmes might play one of the lonely widows, or perhaps a love interest.
I have no issue with seeing Holmes in a role where she plays a rich socialite, but since Batman Begins I have had a bad taste in my mouth for her as an actress.
Maybe they will do a Dawson’s Creek movie and we can start liking her again.
