Getting published isn’t easy. The Publishing House has to take a chance on your product and they need a lot of faith in what you have before they put their stamp on it. Newcomer Danielle Trussoni`s Angelology seems to have sparked all sorts of faith landing her book deal and now the studios are fighting for it too.
“Angelology,” the debut novel of Danielle Trussoni, sparked a bidding war among several publishing houses before ending up at Viking. The screen rights chase began right after that deal was sealed, with Warner Bros. and Universal vying with Sony for the material.
The book was generating heat for its blending of biblical lore surrounding the fall of rebel angels and the Orpheus myth.
The story follows a young nun in upstate New York who unwittingly reignites an ancient war between Angelologists, a group that studies angels, and a race of monster-like descendants of angels and humans called the Nephilim.
Google-Fu reveals this wouldn’t be her debut, but still I wonder what all the excitement is about anyways?
From the sounds of the premise it doesn’t seem like much of a fair fight. In one corner we have a demon breed of creatures that are half angel and half human – and in the other corner… some book nerds?
Perhaps studying angels is a tough job requiring paramilitary skill sets, and these angel half breeds are taking particular offense to people sticking their nose into their half heritage.
Anyone read this book? Is it as good as all the bidding wars seem to imply?
