The movie seen round the world before it hit the North American market has made for a good showing at the boxoffice finally dethroning the King of Queens’ comedy hit Paul Blart: Mall Cop.
When I posted about this last week, the International Friends from outside the Western World gave a near unanimous vote of confidence in the Liam Neeson suspense action flick Taken, and if the trailer hadn’t already convinced me the buzz surely would have.
Liam Neeson, deciding he’s not going to let some mall cop get in his way, busted out a good fashioned can of ticket sales whoop ass on Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Taken has been out for a while overseas, but word of mouth rocketed its U.S. debut to #1 over its opening weekend with $24.6 million dollars.
But to be fair, Paul Blart is still pulling in some respectable coin.
The Mall Cop has managed to triple its production cost and is still holding pretty solid in the charts in its third week.
