Two very short snippets caught through Coming Soon regarding Rambo IV and a Mrs Doubtfire sequel.
…a comment made by Sylvester Stallone to TV Guide. “I hope to start shooting the next Rambo in September,” he said when asked about his movie career.
So it’s full steam ahead for him and Rambo then. I’m not so sure how good or bad a move this is. The franchise became fun but dumb after what was supposed to be a quite intelligent start off. It did try, and it did portray a lot more than just the violence and explosions. Revisiting it though I’m not so sure of, unless they recapture that original feeling and direction and get something more out of it than explosions and effects.
…Williams tells Zap2it he questions whether it will happen. “No, I don’t think so,” Williams says. “But they’re trying to write it. I think if [Bonnie Hunt] can do it right, it’ll be OK. If they don’t do it right, it’s not worth doing it.”
That’s some hope there though, Williams has the desire to do it, but do it right. He does appear to be a quite careful role picker these days and has pulled out some excellent performances. To be totally honest from my point of view, doing a Doubtfire II would be a step back in his career. Look at Insomnia and One Hour Photo, although the first wasn’t great he was excellent in it and commanded as much screen presence as Pacino, and in the latter he was just utterly stunning. That made me suddenly realise that this guy has some serious acting potential that hasn’t been tapped before now, take more roles like that Mr Williams, and while we’re at it, Hollywood offer him more!
