It’s confirmed. Joss Whedon is signed to write and direct for Wonder Woman. From Reuters through Yahoo.
Whedon as signed to write and direct “Wonder Woman,” a live-action film adaptation of the DC Comics character, for Warner Bros. Pictures.
“Wonder Woman is the most iconic female heroine of our time, but in a way, no one has met her yet,” Whedon said in a statement. “What I love most about icons is finding out what’s behind them, exploring the price of their power.”
He added: “There is a woman behind the legend who is very fascinating, very uncompromising and in her own way almost vulnerable. She’s someone who doesn’t belong in this world, and since everyone I know feels that way about themselves, the character clicked for me.”
Looking good for Wonder Woman then, and the announcement comes three days after that of the X-Men 3 announcement…Was he holding on for the second choice? Did he perhaps want X3 over Wonder Woman, or was it just that this decision was the one we wanted to hear and would just overshadow that of the X-Men?
Whatever, hardly matters now. The great news is that Whedon is on for this and it could really turn into something good. He’s hinting at it already in the quote above, a genesis tale perhaps?
