I just loved Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I thought it was one of the most delicately and beautifully told stories on film that I’ve seen in a long time. It probably should have won Best Picture over Gladiator that year… just my opinion.
Word is now leaking out that the Prequel trend is still going strong with Ang Lee setting his sights on a new Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon film. The good folks over at Monsters and Critics offer us this:
Ang Lee is making a prequel to box office hit “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.” The prequel will follow the young Li Mubai and Yu Xiulian, played by Chow Yun-Fat and Michelle Yeoh in ‘Crouching’. Filming is due to begin this summer in Yunnan Province of southwestern China.
The unfortunate part of this is that I doubt Chow Yun-Fat or Michelle Yeoh can be in it (age issues). Still, I really enjoy Ang Lee’s work (yes… I even liked The Hulk).
