Sony is talking with Marvel right now on the possibility of bringing the comic character Killraven to the big screen. According to Variety through Coming Soon:
Set in a future where mankind has been enslaved by an alien race, storyline follows a man who, though born in captivity, rises through gladiatorial battles to become the leader of a group of revolutionaries. Called the Freemen, his warrior-slaves unite in an attempt to drive the invaders off the Earth.
The trade adds that Sony already is in discussions with Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Robert Schenkkan (“The Kentucky Cycle”) to adapt the 1970s comic book series.
Marvel would have quite a hand in the production, and that crazy guy Avi Arad would be producing…oh dear lord, he sounded like a car salesman at that Marvel meeting we reported on before. Still the story seems interesting, although it does make me think more of a Riddick plot than anything, or is it the next Neo, or… Anyway, it does sound…(insert usual pre-scripting caveat).
