There are some that disagree… but it’s pretty much universally accepted that Katie Holmes was by far the weak link in the mighty chain known as Batman Begins, and aside from brining Heath Ledger on as the Joker, replacing her with Maggie Gyllenhaal was the best decision the producers could have made (unless you’re naive enough to believe Holmes “decided” not to be in the sequel).
Anyway, Holmes has just signed on for a new film that Hobbit director Guillermo del Toro has co-written and will produce called “Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark”. I’m not very pumped about it because the synopsis sounds like 5 million other low budget horror movies we’ve all seen:
Based on a 1973 made-for-TV movie, follows a young girl who moves in with her father and his girlfriend (presumably the role Holmes would play) and their discovery that there are demon-like creatures inhabiting the house.
Yaaawwwnnnnn. Seriously, a family moves into a house and discovers there are ghosts/monsters/demons/republicans in it? Come on, can’t they come up with something even SLIGHTLY more original? (source: JoBlo)
