Simon West to Direct Statham in The Mechanic

Right on the heels of learning about Jason Statham joining the Remake of Charles Bronson’s The Mechanic, the project seems to be full steam ahead and secured themselves a director – Simon West.

When it was announced recently that Jason Statham would star in a remake of The Mechanic, a 1972 Charles Bronson hitman movie, there were strong hints that Simon West would come aboard to direct. Variety now confirms that news, adding that it will shoot this summer in Shreveport, Louisiana.

West is best known for Con Air, which I like a lot, so I hope the same sort of popcorn action is applied to The Mechanic, but hopefully it will have a grittier tone like the original as well.

Time will tell.
