Thor Casting In Final Stages

I’m not all that pumped about the upcoming “Thor” movie. I’ll admit I was never taken with him much as a comic book character and I don’t have much hope for seeing a screen adaptation. HOWEVER… keep in mind that I had the exact same feelings when it was announced Iron Man was being made into a movie… and I ended up LOVING that. So there you go.

Still, when it was announced that master actor and filmmaker Kenneth Branagh was taking the help of the movie, I couldn’t help with get a little more interested. It’s an interesting choice for certain… a major Shakespearean guy taking on a comic book movie? I’m curious to see how it turns out.

With that said, there has still been no work on WHO will play Thor (or any other role in the movie for that matter). But in a recent interview Kenneth Branagh has just stated that we’ll know very soon because they’re in the final stages of the casting. The folks at MTV give us this:

“We’re down to the final stages of it,” Branagh told MTV News of the “Thor” casting timeline. “The reason one has to be properly diplomatic, is simply that some talented peopled have been patient, kind, creative and really committed to working with us in this process.”

“My reluctance to say anything about it is simply out of respect for people who have been extremely respectful of us,” continued Branagh. “That said, I think we are extremely close and I hope to announce a decision sooner rather than later.”

Sound to me like he’s already made his decision and they’re just holding off on announcing things until they can sit down and talk to all the other people who weren’t cast to explain their decision. Pretty classy actually.

So who do you think they’ve chosen to play Thor?
