He-Man Still Alive But Sounds Like Crap

There are some movie ideas where you think to yourself “man, it would probably be bad, but I’d love to see it 10 times if they ever made it”. Another He-Man would be one of those projects for me. For ages there was word about another He-Man movie with John Woo set to direct it. That died. Then word came that “Kung-Fu Panda” director John Stevenson was going to helm it… but then we heard nothing. But now there are signs of life again.

Apparently Warner Bros has brought on yet another writer to take a shot at the script. A relative unknown named Evan Daugherty will start working on the new draft.

The problem I have isn’t with Stevenson or with Daugherty… but rather with the plot I’m reading over at the Hollywood Reporter. It sounds stupid as hell. Check it out:

Warners sees the big-screen version as a gritty fantasy and reimagines Adam as a soldier who sets off to find his destiny, happening upon the magical world of Eternia. There, Skeletor has raised a technological army and is bent on eradicating magic.

WHAT THE FUCK!?!?! Look, you guys all know that I’m completely ok with adapting stories and characters to make the jump from TV or Comic book or book to the big screen… AS LONG AS THEY MAINTAIN THE ESSENCE OF THE STORY OR CHARACTERS I’m fine with it…

Skeletor has a robotic army and wants to eliminate magic?!?!?! Skeletor is a Magical creature with a floating skull for a head! He main henchmen are magical creature and a sorceress. His main goal is to possess Castle Grey Skull and possess the magical powers therein. This is a complete reversal of the ESSENCE of the Skeletor character!!!

I don’t mind that Adam isn’t a prince. I don’t mind he is a solider… as long as they nail the basics of who he is, I’m fine… but the rest of this is just total lunacy in my opinon.

Oh well… guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it turns out… but as of now I officially have no interest in this project.
