Lucy Liu leads Rise

LucyLui.jpgI never thought anything much of Lucy Liu in the standard stuff she’s done, but there are two movies that made her stand out for me. Payback and Cypher different roles, but both equally showed her talents. In fact she positively stole Cypher, which would have been a much weaker film without her. Oh I know there were the Kill Bill’s and Charlies Angels, but they didn’t really stretch her did they?

So it’s good news that she’s been signed up for a movie from Sam Raimi‘s Ghost House pictures. Story from Cinescape through Moviehole.

Lucy Liu is rumoured to be headlining “Rise”, a new supernatural thriller from Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures, says Cinescape.

The movie, which centers on a young female reporter who wakes up in a morgue to discover that she is no longer among the living and vows revenge against those responsible for putting her there – has been on the drawing board for a couple of years now.

In 2003, Sebastian Gutierrez signed on to direct the film, but it’s not mentioned whether he’s still attached.

I would like to see her get some meatier roles. Do you think she’s be worth a try in a strong major role?
