It seems that when it rains it pours, and recently its pouring Thor. Right on the heels of finding out that Chris Hemsworth would be playing Thor in Kenneth Branagh’s Thor adaptation for Marvel’s Avenger’s lineup, we now get news of who would be playing Loki.
British Actor Tom Hiddleston!
Hiddleston is pretty much an unknown to American audiences but an award-winning British actor and Royal Academy Of Dramatic Arts (RADA) graduate. He played Winston Churchill’s son in HBO’s The Gathering Storm. It’s worth noting that Hiddleston starred in Ivanov opposite Sir Kenneth on the London stage and also starred with him in the BBC miniseries Wallander.
This guy is a complete unknown to me. I haven’t seen any of the productions he has been in, so I have no idea what to think of this.
He seems to have a good resume, so I have to assume he can act, but from the looks of thinks he won’t be presenting a physical opposition to Thor, but rather a manipulating and scheming foe.
His name was dropped in rumours for the film, but many discarded presuming they meant for the role of the God of Thunder himself, not even thinking he would be a good fit for the Trickster.
