Sharlto Copley CONFIRMED for Spike Lee’s “Old Boy” remake

Sharlto Copley has been added to the cast of Spike Lee’s upcoming remake to the 2003 Chan-wook Park thriller “Old Boy” joining long confirmed Josh Brolin with filming expected to begin late summer. The news is not at all surprising as rumors circulated about his negotiation but now it’s being announced that a binding contract is in place and he no longer has a choice but to show up and perform to the best of his abilities. Muahahahahahaha…

Copley has also been confirmed to play the villain Adrian Pryce in Oldboy. Pryce is a mysterious billionaire trying to destroy the life of Joe Douchett (Josh Brolin). The new Oldboy begins shooting in late September from a script adapted by Mark Protosevich, who will co-produce.

Pretty exciting news and I like the idea of seeing Copley playing the villain. He’s impressed me so far with District 9 and again with the crazy-cool that he evoked in the ‘A-Team’ so the news of him offering yet another unique performance… well there’s just something so refreshing about the idea of an actor showcasing their range. With filming scheduled to begin this summer it shouldnt be long before we uncover any other casting adaptions and the predictable spy-cam shots of cast in costume..
