Ray Liotta to turn to comedy

RayLiotta.jpgI’m really struggling with this spate of big stars that have a past career of great movies, diverse character roles and much, much acclaim that step up to take part in a comedy. I just find they end up demeaning their star image and end up making a complete hash of it.

Point and case, Dustin Hoffman and Robert De Niro in particular, for the Meet the…movies. Awful and embarrassing.

So along plods Ray Liotta for the next round, and I’m worried for him. According to Yahoo:

…will star as an unfaithful husband trying to repair his broken marriage in an upcoming film comedy about love and football.

Rachel Blanchard, Glenne Headly and Shaun Sipos also have been cast in the indie film “Comeback Season,” to be written and directed by Bruce McCulloch (“Stealing Harvard,” “Superstar.”)

Well he has tackled comedy before, but he was a bad guy, a role he pulls off all to well. I don’t know, this one could go either way. What do you think, and what do you think of the trend of actors ruining their career like this?
