The stories I was seeing appear over the last few days about the movie Southland Tales weren’t exciting me at all, until JoBlo did a clever thing with the title of their post about the announcements for the movie.
Gellar as a porn star?
Okay, got me.
Richard Kelly of Donnie Darko fame is finally getting moving with this film, and the three main roles have been cast.
The film will star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Seann William Scott and Sarah Michelle Gellar in the main three roles with a large ensemble supporting cast. Johnson will star in the film as Boxer Santaros, an action star with amnesia; Gellar will play Krysta Now, a porn star working on her own reality TV show; and, Scott will star as David Clark a Hermosa Beach police officer who “holds the key to a vast conspiracy.”
Wow. So trying to get over the idea of Gellar playing a porn star…or anything related to that at all, the characterisations sound quite bizarre already. Kelly goes on to make it even moreso:
…hybrid of the sensibilities of Andy Warhol and Philip K. Dick” set in the futuristic landscape of Los Angeles on July 4, 2008…
Ah, yeah. Okay. Sounds odd, but his plans sound grand indeed. He’s going for a series of graphic novels based from the movie as well as elaborate plans for the website. Yeah, yeah, whatever. Gellar as a porn star?! I won’t ask your thoughts on that…instead, what about Kelly coming back with such big plans?
