No one could be more excited about The Hobbit than me. But when I heard this rumour this morning I instinctively called bullshit.
“I can tell you this, Peter Jackson is very keen to have the two part Hobbit tale set in 3D. [Guillermo] Del Toro however is holding back on that school of thought. At least for the time being,” said the source. “I’m hearing word that it wont be two films. It will be three. The two parts and the bridge movie. I hear this from lots of people. And have seen things to indicate this may be the way it is heading. Del Toro on Hobbit duty, Jackson on the bridge project.”
This just sounds like fantasy fanwank to me. I was surprised to hear they are exapnding the Hobbit with new content to stretch it into two films. And pulling the dream team to direct is just music to the fanboy’s ears. But that they might drag this on for three more films and that Peter Jackson would direct it?
Sorry. Not buying it. Sounds to me like some “unnamed source” is just some “fabricated publicitiy buzz”.
Like this franchise needs any more publicity? They could release this with no commercials, no trailers and not one poster and it will still be a hit.
