Rumours have it that this ninth season of Smallville is its last, and while some say this is planned, there is speculation they won’t cancel unless they have to. However, I think moving it to Friday night (where networks put series to pasture) might have been a hint that its on its last legs.
But adding more evidence to the cause, while filling its guest star roster with recognized characters from the DC Universe (Justice League, Watchtower, and Brian Austen Green as Metallo) Smallville is scraping its bloody nails across the bottom of that barrel.
This season is getting the Wonder Twins.
Smallville is scraping the bottom of the superhero barrel, and coming up with a heaping of Wonder Twins for its next season. Even the first glimpse at Brian Austin Green’s naked robotic chest doesn’t make the pain any duller.
According to KryptonsiteDavid Gallagher (7th Heaven) and Allison Scagliotti (Warehouse 13’s awesome Claudia) have been cast as Zan and Jayna in the ninth season of Smallville.
Wait. You don’t know who the Wonder Twins are? Not surprised – they are dumb. Let me help you out.
Zan and Jayna are syblings who share a power to transform themselves when the touch their rings together and chant “Wonder Twin Powers Activate!” But here’s the gold. Zan can only change himself into water or ice (or things shaped of water or ice) while Jayne can make herself into any animal.
I think Zan got the short end of the stick there. At least Jayna can be a Bear or something badass. But usually she is more reserved and changes into a gopher. Granted these were edited from the original cartoons to be more “realistic” and therefore more amusing, but it pretty much spells it out.
The Wonder Twins are quite possibly the WORST idea for a superhero duo ever. And in my 25 years of reading comics, I can tell ya there are some legally retarded characters in those books. I wonder if they will reference Gleek, their blue space monkey.
If they told you that Zan got his powers when he was bit by a radioactive glass of water, it might make the idea work, but honestly this is the dumbest of the dumb characters to try and adapt to a show that is already in its twilight.
