Karl Urban Joins Preist

I really dig Karl Urban. Like most people, I never really knew anything about him until his role in the “Lord of the Rings” films in which he just blew me away with his subtle power on screen. It looked like he could turn into a legit leading “A LIST” man (he certainly has the talent to do it) but with stinker bombs like “Doom” and “Pathfinder” his stint as a leading man seems to have been cut short.

This summer, Urban showed us he’s more than just a muscle man when he surprisingly played Bones in the new Star Trek movie.

Now Urban has joined the new “Priest” film. Damn this sounds good. From the good folks over at ScreenCrave:

He will star as the bad guy opposite Paul Bettany and Cam Gigandet. This news comes pretty late in the game considering production on the film starts next week! More on Priest below. Urban will portray Black Hat, “the evil leader of the bloodsuckers who was once a priest and hunter but now fancies himself a god of vampires.” The story of the film will center on “a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampire and follows a warrior priest who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece.”

This sounds AMAZING! I can’t wait.

Now back to Urban. Do you think he could get a shot at leading man status again or do you think his solid talents are better used in supporting roles?
