Not long ago we posted the upcoming Superhero movies from Marvel and their expected dates, and I expressed my joy and excitement that the great Silver Surfer was coming to the big screen. Well Avi Arad has been speaking through SciFi Wire about the production, and it may be a lot sooner than we thought.
“We’re just starting, and we are very excited,” Marvel film chief Avi Arad said in an interview at the Saturn Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. “We are finishing [Fantastic Four], and the next thing we’ll go on our way to Silver Surfer.”
Brilliant news, it goes against the IMDB information on Arad’s schedule which has a number of films coming up, none of which are the Surfer.
Regardless of when, the question is how to portray him, and Fox Filmed Entertainment Co-Chairman Tom Rothman has spoken on this before. There’s still a lot to be decided.
“I think the tricky thing on Silver Surfer, which hasn’t been resolved yet, is the nature of the Surfer and to what extent digital work is used and to what extent it isn’t,” Rothman said in a separate interview. “And that’s the fundamental difficult decision.
To me, this is one of the top characters of the comic genre, and I can’t wait to see it coming to fruition. Anyone else with me?
