Warner Bros. Gives Up On He-Man

I still can’t decide if this is great or awful news. Warner Bros. has decided to abandon it’s plans to make a Masters of the Universe Movie.

Remember He-Man and the Masters of the Universe? I think on my block, as a kid, it was the second most popular set of toys after the Transformers. Back in 1987 Dolph Lungren took up the sword of Eternia as He-Man in the feature film version.

For a few years no, Matel has been working with Warner Bros. and producer Joel Silver to bring He-Man back to the big screen, but nothing has happened. Why? Well, apparently Matel and Warner have had creative differences massive enough to part ways meaning Matel is looking for a new studio to make the film and Warner is out of the picture.

Matel reportedly wants to keep director John Stevenson (Kung Fu Panda) attached to direct regardless of where the project ends up.

So yeah… good news or bad? I mean a He-Man movie would be just awful… but it COULD be awesome awful. Know what I mean? What do you think about this? (source: Movieweb)
