Michael Sheen has been racking up some impressive roles lately but the one that seems to be alluding definition would be his involvement in Tron. But in a recent chatup in Toronto while promoting his Football(Soccer) film Sheen shares more about the role he will play in Tron 2.
Geek Tyrant offers up:
Despite early speculation that Sheen would be playing yet another villain… which he does do so well, he revealed that he would in fact be playing a nightclub host:
“That was amazing, because there’s a lot of green screen in that. But my stuff was mainly in this amazing set that they built because I’m a nightclub host, so they built the nightclub and there were hundreds of extras and it was one of those great scenes where there’s just loads going on.”
But even though he’s a nightclub owner, doesn’t mean he might turn out to ultimately be a villian. He did Tweet that he would be playing a villain, who is “not a person at all” just a month and a half ago.
So it seems that his “not a person” implies that he will play a “character” in the computer world, which in itself is a digital person. Perhaps a program that hosts (functions) the nightclub. We already saw that the virtual world in the new Tron will be far more elaborate, so perhaps programs socialize their artificial intelligences when their application is not in use.
He could turn out to be the badguy still, but as of now we know what Sheen will be playing. We are getting closer!
