Singer takes on Jack the Giant Killer

Bryan Singer has signed on for a film adaptation of Jack the Giant Killer, a fairy tale that is better known by the variants The Valiant Little Tailor or Jack and the Beanstalk.

Movie Web says:

The script is being written by Mark Bomback (Live Free or Die Hard). It all starts when a princess is kidnapped, and this causes problems between the peaceful existence between men and giants. At this point, “a young farmer is given an opportunity to lead a dangerous expedition to the giants’ kingdom in hopes of rescuing her.”

It sounds like this adaptation is also based on the classic fairy tale and not a remake of the 1962 film of the same name.

Should be interesting to see a modern take on such a classic tale. I hope its fun.
