Back in the late 90s and early this decade I was an avid collector and painter of Warhammer 40k figurines. I had a brilliantly painted and beautifully displayed Eldar army for the table top strategy war miniatures game.
But I sucked at the game itself so I just stuck to painting and displaying my figures.
Now it looks like I will have my chance to see those 40k armies come to life on the big screen.
Codex Pictures have announced production of Ultramarines, the first feature film to be based upon Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40k.
The clearly most popular armies in the game are the Human race and their Space Marines and the multitude of varieties they come in. The elite among them are called the UltraMarines.
The video games of this franchise have some impressive CGI cutscenes that could make for an awesome movie. But no word yet if the film will be all CGI or a mix of live action and effects.
