There has been a lot of faith lost in the X-Men franchise with the last two showings on a decline from its glorious beginings. But with all the planned X-Films in the works, some are jumping to the narrow conclusion that they cannot be good. Oh how quickly we forget.
But a glimmer of hope shows on the horizon as Bryan Singer admits he has been talking to Fox about returning to the fold.
Bryan Singer says he’d like to direct another X-Men movie, and I can’t see any reason why that wouldn’t happen. The Hollywood Reporter quotes Singer at the Pusan International Film Festival is South Korea as saying, “I’m still looking to possibly returning to the X-Men franchise. I’ve been talking to Fox about it.”
This makes perfect sense and I look forward to seeing Singer doing more in the X-Universe.
Around these parts we call Singer the Saviour of the Superhero genre after Joel Schumaker bent Batman over and ass raped him with some neon lighting. Hollywood wouldn’t go near a comic book adaptation for close to 6 years before Singer boldly brought us X-Men. Then the floodgate was open and it almost seems like half of Hollywood is leaping off the comicbook page.
I think Singer needs to step back into the X-Films. People were less happy about X-Men 3: The Last Stand and that was the first X without Singer. Then Wolverine was so riddled with problems.
Maybe its time for the saviour to return. But which of the planned X-Films should he take? X-Men 4? First Class? Wolverine 2? Deadpool? or let him have something new like New Mutants or Power Pack?
