(See what I did there? Hey, I’ve been up for 19minutes already!) Kurt Russell is without a doubt one of my favourite actors, although highly misused, he has bundles of talent and makes you believe in any character he plays, and he’s played one hell of a variety.
When you take a look at some of those roles the ones that might stick in your head are the more cheesy, but still excellent ones such as Jack Burton in Big Trouble in Little China, one hell of a film. Then there are those ones which may not be the ones that stand out so much, but are strong, real roles, such as in The Mean Season or more recently the Doctor in Vanilla Sky.
So it’s great news to see him get some new parts to look forward to, even if it is the remade Poseidon Adventure, he might just bring some class to it. Coming Soon have the story:
Kurt Russell, Richard Dreyfuss, Emmy Rossum and Mike Vogel will star in Wolfgang Petersen’s remake of The Poseidon Adventure, while Andre Braugher is in talks to join the cast.
The Hollywood Reporter says Russell is playing an ex-fireman and mayor who is traveling with his daughter (Rossum) and her boyfriend (Vogel). Dreyfuss plays a gay man whose relationship breaks up just before departure. Braugher would play the ship’s captain.
Now don’t even get me started on Richard Dreyfuss he’s in three of my favourite ever movies and in the top ten favourite actors of all time. What I hope is that this doesn’t turn out to be the same as the original, older stars crammed into a straight disaster picture, and that there is a strong survivor and bonding story in there. Am I hoping against hope?
