It is official, and though no one ever really doubted it would happen, its now on paper and the third Riddick film will be called simply Riddick and return Vin Diesel to the role. Schedules are being pushed around to allow for Fast 5 and this to be filmed.
Vin Diesel will be back to both produce and star in another installment of the Chronicles of Riddick franchise. This confirms some of the rumors that were floating around this past summer, saying that Diesel would be back.
Universal will handle the domestic distribution of the film, which is being titled Riddick. Lionsgate is working on securing the international distribution rights.
I really like that Vin Diesel is back in action flicks flexing his muscles on the big. I am a little disappointed that he is doing it by falling back on his old franchises. Fortunately its worked out for him so far with Fast and Furious – which is going to kick off another chapter with Fast5.
I did like the Chronicles of Riddick, and the script for this proposed Riddick is written by the same man who co-wrote and directed both Pitch Black and the Chronicles of Riddick. So it should be a fitting next chapter and another does of Diesel.
