The Hobbit begins filming in June

This generated a little geeky squee from me this morning (then I looked around to make sure no one heard that) as it is a small detail but it means it is coming.

RamaScreen shares:

THE HOBBIT’s, two films, start shooting in New Zealand in June. Filming will take over a year. Casting in Los Angeles, New York City and London has started. The script too proceeds. The first draft is crammed with old and new friends, again on a quest in Middle Earth.

The director Guillermo del Toro is now living in Wellington, close to the Jacksons’ and the studio in Miramar

I am encouraged to see things headed in the right direction. They clearly have a good script in hand or know where its all going to be ready for filming and casting. Seeing the characters return should be awesome too.

I have an itch to rewatch the Lord of the Rings, but I am holding out until it comes out on Bluray due out April 6.
