Sam Rockwell for Hitcher remake?

SamRockwell.jpgLast week we had the story of the signings for the Hitcher remake, and now there’s the news from Digital Spy that Sam Rockwell is in talks for the movie. Does this mean that the previous talk of casting was false and that maybe he’s in for the lead?

From some previous roles you could easily see him taking the part of a cop, but as I thought about it the more I likened him for the role of the Hitcher himself. Just think of some of the manic performances he’s put in and picture him as that edgy, slightly off kilter stranger on the road. I think it could really work.

Whatever our previous news story might have suggested – and I still think that Julian McMahon would make a good Hitcher – it seems that the casting is not set and we’re still awaiting the Hitcher and his poor victim.

Rockwell as the Hitcher, then who as the victim? If you had to recast right now and the original members were not going to sign up, who would you pick for the roles?
