Newt, the story of the last male blue newt who meets the last female blue newt. They can’t stand each other but realize the key to their species continued existance relies on them to procreate.
Well this was in Pixar’s hands so I know the topic of newt coitus would have been handled delicately against the backdrop of hillarious and heartwarming character interaction.
But its been canned.
The news of the cancellation comes courtesy of The Pixar Blog who shot an email to Disney archivist David Smith asking about the status of the film (due to its having been removed from the latest update of “Disney A to Z: The Official Encyclopedia”). Smith replied with a quick and straight-to-the-point response: “The film has been cancelled.”
As of this point the cancellation has not been explained, however it was slated to come out in a year that they already have two major feature film releases scheduled (Monsters Inc 2, and Brave – formerly the Bear and the Bow)
Pixar has never ever let me down, and even the worst of their films still makes me a happy child inside. So obviously I was looking forward to Newt. Hell, I would look forward to a movie about a tampon falling in love with a cockroach if Pixar decided it was so.
Shame.
