Kung Fu Hustle 2

KungFuHustle.jpgHaving seen Kung Fu Hustle and loved it, I got all excited at this news (see, we’re not all downbeat here!), from Moviehole:

The funnyman of fight-flicks, Stephen Chow, has announced a sequel to his surprise chop-suey hit “Kung Fu Hustle”.

According to Cri Online, “Kung Fu Hustle 2” will shoot as early as September, with Chow hoping to have it wrapped by year’s end.

The original cast…have agreed to return, even Chan Kwok-Kwan…

…The $15 million dollar sequel – with the action again being handled by Yuen Wo-Ping – will again be distributed by Sony.

Fantastic! If you haven’t seen the original, then go do so now, or at least go and read my review from the link above, it’s a superb movie. If it were a meal, it would undoubtedly be one of the best ever banquets you would ever have, comprising of every type of food…must be tea time again!

It’s also great to see a studio recognising a good foreign film and keeping it that way, I would have half expected Sony to suggest remaking it in Hollywood with an all US cast. Thankfully not though, and the biggest news is that Chow is back in the driving seat, this promises to be another high action-comedy-musical!
