While everyone else is complaining that remakes and reboots are the trash can of Hollywood, this is one idea I am excited to hear they are revisiting.
Looney Toons is ressurecting their timeless animated shorts with an updated style. And they plan to start delivering these new and improved adventures of Coyote and Roadrunner will be presented as 3d shorts ahead of WB’s Cat’s and Dogs sequel “The Revenge of Kitty Galore” this July.
After plugging that, they will have an ongoing TV Series in the fall.
Take a look at the new updated Bugs and Daffy:
Then the new The Looney Tunes Show, a 26-episode half-hour series, will appear on Cartoon Network this fall. There Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck will be “odd-couple roommates in a contemporary cul-de-sac” with neighbors Yosemite Sam, Tweety Bird, Sylvester, Marvin the Martian and Porky Pig.
Ok, less interested in putting them in a setting like this. One of the great things about the original toons was that there was no canon. There were classic relationships, but no static set to revolve the shows around.
They state that “Looney Toons Unleashed” is their road map of what not to do, but I think they are still taking a wrong turn at Albuqurque.
Still I look forward to seeing what they do with it and if they can recapture the original charm of the shorts that still hold up today.
