According to Cinematical Al Pacino is signed up to play Napoleon in a biopic of the Emperor.
Apparently playing the short, aggressive, exiled emperor has long been a dream for Pacino, and he feels that Navidi and Ratford are the right people to bring Napoleon to the big screen.
Sounds good, a great role for him to tackle, but in a particularly poor sounding blurb he looks set to turn it into a romantic movie.
…it will explore the Frenchman’s later years on St. Helena, where he apparently struck up a friendship with a young British girl. Inevitably, of course, the exiled ex-emperor became “infatuated” with the lass.
So gone are all the amazing accomplishments he made throughout he life, both good and bad, and the fascinating and brutal stories of his years as Emperor, great battles, the story of his exile and the invention of tinned food. Instead we’ll be treated to a love story between an aged, mumbling, American accented Frenchman and a young girl.
Sounds a bit of a miss when we could have had such a good story.
