Two casting calls have made their way to the internet that are giving us a bit of a peek into some upcoming films.
The first is for Super 8 and then a call for Footloose.
Ramascreen shares:
Super 8:
Seeking 13-14 year old Boys & Girls for the lead roles in a new Paramount feature film. No previous acting experience is necessary, but must have great energy and a wonderful sense of humor and thoughtfulness.
JOSH: Male 13-14. Josh is cute, but could be on the scrawny side – definitely not the school jock. Loveable, empathetic, smart and interesting. Must have a great sense of humor. Should have a Midwestern feel.
COLLIN: Male 13-14. Slightly, or more than slightly, overweight. Collin is confident, driven, optimistic and a natural leader. Must have a great sense of humor. Should have a Midwestern feel.
NATALIE: Female 13-14. A natural beauty – she is stunning, but not the “cheerleader” type. Strong and confident, but has an underlying sadness. Should have a Midwestern feel.
So… Im guessing they want a “midwestern feel”. The premise of the movie is kept pretty tight lipped right now, but they have revealed that while some kids are filming their own homemade movies with a Super8 camera they accidentally film something “sinsister” and the teaser suggests an Alien life form being transported from Area 51 via train.
This is said to be inspired from JJAbrams youth where he started his fascination with film creating movies this way, and also inspired by Spielberg films. Maybe the alien will be a pissed off ET?
For the Footloose casting, its a little more open call. They are asking for a self taped clip reading a bit of the role of “Steve” as well as some sample (upbeat – but not rap or metal) dancing.
SEEKING MALES 18 OR OLDER TO PLAY HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS IN FOOTLOOSE, SHOOTING SUMMER 2010. MUST HAVE NATURAL RHYTHM AND BE COMFORTABLE DANCING. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A TRAINED DANCER BUT A QUICK LEARNER.
The sample scene appears to be nearly identicle to Ren McCormmick’s first day in school before bumping into the good natured beefy Willard played by the late Chris Penn and forming his first new friendship.
I have no doubt this remake will follow the original script almost to the letter. The role that originally was given to Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford is now being left to an open casting call? Maybe we will get a complete unknown?
Also, please note WE ARE NOT THE CASTING AGENCY! Leaving a comment here telling us you are perfect for the role or emailing me your audition will not get you in the movie. We are not associated with the studio!
Seriously. This stuff happens.
