I’ve slowly been learning to appreciate Billy Bob Thornton. Yeah… I think the man is a complete whack job.. but that doesn’t take away from the fact that I find him to be one hell of a performer. Drama or comedy he just brings it every time (even in horrible movies like Bad News Bears).
Billy Bob has also been known to take different kinds of roles. Off beat stuff like Bad Santa or Sling Blade. This kind of diversity makes me appreciate him even more.
Now it’s being reported that Thornton has signed on to start in Astronaut Farmer. The good folks over at FilmForce give us the following:
The story is about an astronaut employed at NASA who leaves his job to save the family farm. Unable to give up his dream of space flight, he begins constructing a rocket in his barn in his spare time. His activities arouse the interests of his neighbors, who thinks he’s strange; the media, who discover an interesting story in his endeavors; and the government, who considers him to be a threat and intends to stop him.
You know what? I think that sounds really cool… and in today’s day and age not completely far fetched wither. It does sound a little like Space Cowboys… but I’ll give it a shot.
