When Tropic Thunder came out, everyone was talking about Tom Cruise’s over the top cameo as Les Grossman, and then this year’s MTV awards had a number of commercials leading up to it with the persona dishing career advice while the character was producing the show. Then his on stage dance segment with Jennifer Lopez just stole the show.
So is it any surprise that Cruise is steering the character for his own film?
If you didn’t get your fill of Les Grossman at this year’s MTV Movie Awards, don’t worry, because Tom Cruise may soon reprise the role in his very own spin-off movie. After taking the stage as Grossman for a show-stealing performance alongside Jennifer Lopez, Cruise told Marc Malkin at E! Online that he and his producing partners are “working on” the movie right now.
A Les Grossman film would be awesome. It could be full of cameo appearances by other stars slated for rediculously titled films Grossman is trying to produce.
This character is a major turning point for Cruise. Having him in such a campy role shows he has a sense of humour, and while people are still bagging on him for that jumping on Oprahs couch and his Scientology silliness, he hasn’t stopped being a top knotch performer.
I already feel he has “come back” from all that nonsense that plagued his public image, but this just catapults him on top. The guy is made of class and is fearless. I have a lot of respect for Cruise.
Maybe he can even cameo as himself and have Les Grossman give him career advice.
