Via Rope of Silicon, we have the first shot of Brad Pitt as Jesse James for his new film The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford -just incase you didn’t know Ford was a coward, they put it in the title-. Personally I am a fan of Brad Pitt -most of the time-, and I am looking forward to seeing this western.
The western is a genre which comes and goes on a regular basis. It has been a staple of Hollywood since silent pictures and is hit or miss with the audiences today. Bad ones like American Outlaws put a nasty taste in our mouths which lasts for years, but great ones such as Unforgiven stay with us for a life time.
A few western favorites I can think of are:
- Young Guns
- Young Guns II
- Tombstone
- Wyatt Earp
- The Quick and the Dead -I know, but hey Gene Hackman is in it-
Check out Pitt as Jesse James here. Let us know your feelings on westerns and what some of your favorites are?
