The reviews are beginning to come in for Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and all seem to be loving it. Here from Rotten Tomatoes, Channel 4 Film and Our Brisbane are a few comments on the new claymation creation:
“Does the resulting film, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, live up to expectations set up by the success of Chicken Run? Yes, it does. Wallace & Gromit is the most witty, clever, charming and hilarious film of the year – a classic, even better than Chicken Run. It’ll easily win the Best Animated Feature Film award at the Academy Awards for this year.”
“… at a time when CG animation has lost its novelty, Wallace & Gromit’s unique hand-crafted style, together with their proven audience appeal, should make it a hit and could conceivably result in a third Oscar nomination for Park.”
“This is one of the finest films of the year, rivalling The Incredibles and Shrek for its entertainment and sense of silly fun.”
“… each scene crammed with jokes to reward attentive viewers. If this film doesn’t take out Best Animated Feature at next year’s Oscars, something is very wrong with the world.”
There you have it kids, the movie is a hit among those privy to viewing it. I personally am very excited to see this film. With voices like Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham Carter and of course Peter Sallis as Wallace, they spared no expense on talent. These stories always made me laugh when I was younger, and I have no doubt it will again. Although things have changed since I first watched this animated duo; for one, I wont be passing the roach to the left hand side(?).
If you haven’t familiarized yourself with Wallace and Gromit, I suggest you go out and rent Wallace & Gromit: A Grand Day Out, the story which started it all. You will fall in love with these guys. If you have already which Wllace and Gromit tale is your favorite?
