Stop Motion Manson Musical: Live Freaky! Die Freaky!

LFDF.jpgRocker John Roecker has been working on his highly anticipated stop motion animated film Live Freaky! Die Freaky! for years -rumors started roughly 10 years ago- and it looks like the futuristic musical about the preachings of the legendary mad man Charles Manson, will finally get released.

Live Freaky! Die Freaky! is set in the year 3069 were the Earth is resourceless and a barron desert -very Mad Max sounding-. A young boy wonders upon a copy of Helter Skelter, falls deeply into its methodologies and begins to preach the words of Charles Manson. All though this is a rather morbid and disturbing synopsis -it’s punk rock what do you want- it will be lightened by the slew of musical numbers within the movie.

What surprises me the most is the lack of exposure this project has had. If you are a punk rock fan or a rock fan for that matter, there is a large collection of stars involved with this movie. Billie Joe Armstrong from Green day, Tim Armstrong from Rancid, Kelly Osbourne and frick’n X-keyboardist from Faith No More Roddy Bottum is doing the soundtrack!

It was listed as one of the movies being displayed at this years Chicago Underground Film Festival, but is supposedly scheduled to be screened this February -who actually knows, the home page news hasn’t changed in a year-.

For a fan this is a big deal. My excitement for this movie is equal to the feelings I had for Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects -hey, I’m a fan boy and I’m proud of the guy-.

With any hope a trailer will pop up on the net soon and we can have out first look at the twisted tale of Live Freaky! Die Freaky!, most definitely a prospect for a major cult followed film.
