Recently we found out that the Weinsteins’ B-Movie fest Piranha 3D was decidedly too much for the unmonitored audiences at Comic Con and was politely excluded from the proceedings.
Well now, as if by retaliation the planned exhibition slated for SSDC has a new home off site and will still take place.
TWC and director Alexandre Aja originally planned to show off a sequence where a wet T-shirt contest turns into a total massacre as prehistoric fish chomp waterlogged fun-seekers into meat. It’s the sequence that has been teased in the trailers and pre-release images, and one that sounds like one of the film’s planned showstopper setpieces.
So while SSDC’s concerns were purely because of the lack of age checking on Hall H where the graphic violence and nudity were about to be put on display to promote this film, instead of backing down quietly, the Weinsteins’ are going to take responsibility themselves and put on their show off site, where they can admit people on their own decision.
The exact location is not known, but I am sure attendees at the event will be made well aware.
