People are already a little cautious when they hear that there will be an adaptation of the board game Battleship into a feature film.
So what do they do to resolve this uneasy anticipation? They cast real actors in it. Ok, I am a little less worried. They announce the plot will involve …ALIENS! (Think Bolt! in that delivery) and now we are back to uneasy.
Oh I know! We will announce a stunt casting giving a popstar with no acting experience a role!
Yep. Popstar Rihanna has been confirmed as part of the cast of Peter Berg’s Battleship -ela-ela-ela.
Rihanna will make her feature film debut in the tentpole project (her cameo in the straight to DVD Bring it On movie doesn’t count), which will be directed by Peter Berg and co-stars Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgard. Battleship will take place across the seas, over the skies and land in a battle for planet survival against a superior force. Kitsch stars as a naval officer who leads the fight and Skarsgard plays his brother.
No idea who she might be playing.
Hopefully it will amount to a glorified cameo of the weeping wife back home who cannot contact her naval officer husband lost at sea. Or perhaps they will apply her sexy stage style and make her one of the aliens, clad in a corset and platform dominatrix boots?
Personally I think the film is a great idea, as the board game has no plot so they can do whatever they want with it. But they are not building my excitement with these announcements.
They sunk my anticipation.
