War Of The Worlds DVD

I enjoyed Steven Spielberg’s version of War Of The Worlds… even though I wasn’t THRILLED with it. The movie did a great job of instilling that “Oh damn we’re all screwed” feeling that a lot of other apocalyptic films seem to overlook. The film also had some wonderful visuals that really struck fear and awe at the same time.

Now, Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that the War of the Worlds DVD will be released and available on store shelves on November 14th 2005. The DVD will be a 2 disk set. The good folks over at Digital Spy give us this:

The two-disc package from Paramount Home Entertainment will feature a film disc and also a disc of special features including interviews with director Spielberg and the movie’s star Tom Cruise who will be giving insights on the film’s production. Also included is a feature explaining the creation of the virtual army of the Tripod invaders, a behind the scenes look at the film’s production and a homage to H.G. Wells’ novel upon which the picture was based.

Notice that the special features doesn’t mention a “Commentary track”. I’ve heard that Spielberg doesn’t like doing commentary tracks on DVDs. I’ll be curious to see if he does one for War of the Words or not. I hope he does… it’s my favorite feature on DVDs.
