TRON: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski has recently been said to be shopping his next project Oblivion around Hollywood. Early this week, it was reported that Disney is first in line for negotiations on this project. This comes as no surprise as Kosinski has been working closely with Disney for the last few years.
ScreenRant gives us the synopsis of Oblivion, a graphic novel that Krosinski co-developed with with Arvid Nelson:
Oblivion is a futuristic science fiction love story that takes place in an apocalyptic future where most people live above the clouds, far from the inhospitable place that the surface of Earth has become. An earthbound soldier who repairs drones that patrol and destroy a savage alien race discovers a beautiful woman who crashed in a craft. They take an epic adventure that changes his world view.
With Tron Legacy so hotly anticipated this year, its no surprise that eyes are quickly on this guy’s future dance card.
So the project he wants to use this eccelerated attention on is his own adaptation.
Sounds like an interesting plot, and even if Disney doesn’t nab the adaptation, their eager interest in it is likely to prompt other studios to get in line pretty quick.
