After three weeks on top, Inception is dethroned by newcomer goofball buddycop comedy The Other Guys. Guess the summer stage can only handle so much of the cerebral Inception, even with its impressive run.
Boxoffice Mojo has the estimates:
The Other Guys – $35,600,000 – Opening
Inception – $18,600,000 – 4wks
Step Up 3-D – $15,500,000 – Opening
Salt – $11,100,000 – 3wks
Dinner for Schmucks – $10,500,000 – 2wks
But what surprised me was Step-Up 3D making the top 5 in the third place spot. I don’t mind these dance movies, but they are more like concerts for dancers than movies even if they do attempt a plot. But clearly those visuals are all people go to see these for.
Salt and Dinner round out the list for the week picking up the scraps.
