Scotty goes to the final frontier

JamesDoohan.jpgI hated the idea of using the “beam me up” phrase in the title, so I hope that is better and treats the greatest role James Doohan was known for with the respect it, and he, truly deserve.

The news is from the BBC (those people who force everyone in the UK to pay for their service whether you use them or not) that Doohan is to have his final wish of having his ashes scattered in space, and only three days after my Birthday! (That is a hint!)

Star Trek actor James Doohan, who played Scotty in the series, will have his final wish granted when his ashes are sent into space on 6 December.

Not only that but you can send your best wishes with him, and perhaps even a message to someone else out there.

Mrs Doohan invited fans to contribute extra tribute messages via the Space Services Inc website, “to honour him on his journey to Earth orbit”.

Messages will be digitised and put onto a disc that will be included in the rocket that carries Doohan’s remains into space from Vandenberg Air Force Base.

The Texas company previously sent the ashes of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and 1960s drug guru Timothy Leary into space.

If you’d like to send a message with him, just head to the site of Space Services Inc.
