Sony Is Offering Mary Jane Watson To Emma Stone

After weeks of rumors about who Sony would cast as Mary Jane Watson for the new Spider-Man reboot, the studio has decided on who they will offer it to. The winner: Emma Stone.

Deadline reports:

Sony Pictures Entertainment will imminently offer the role of Mary Jane Watson to Emma Stone, who starred for the studio in Zombieland and Easy A. It’s another good role for Stone, who is currently shooting the Tate Taylor-directed adaptation of the Kathryn Stockett bestseller The Help for DreamWorks. She plays Skeeter, the college student who comes home determined to expose the class differences between the matriarchs and their house servants in the South in 1962.

I say, perfect casting. Hopefully she will accept this offer. She has to. I’m so glad that I don’t have to watch Kirsten Dunst portray this character any longer. To me, it was just so painful by the second and third films of Sam Raimi’s trilogy. Stone will give this character a different spin and vibe. I’ve yet to see Easy A, but I’ve read good things. I thought Stone was good in The Rocker (for what is was) and in Zombieland. Congrats Stone!

What do you guys think? Stone as Mary Jane? You up for this? If not, who would’ve you liked in this role? Do you think she’ll accept?
