Some details about Sam Raimi’s Wizard of Oz prequel have surfaced online, and it looks like this wont be as squeaky clean as the classic Wizard of Oz. The story will tell exactly how the witches got their roles and just how this fraud became the great and powerful Oz.

The Mitchel Kapner (The Whole Nine Yards) script focuses on a younger Oz the Wizard (Robert Downey Jr), who is a snake-oil salesman posing as a magician. He enters Oz via a hot-air balloon, which he uses to escape an angry husband who has found out that Oz slept with his wife. He is fast-talking and wears a velveteen frock coat.
At Oz, the Wizard falls in love with Glinda (the Good Witch) and the two combine forces to fight the evil witches Theodora and Evanora. Theodora starts out as a good witch, but after Oz jilts her sexual advances, Evanora – the truly evil one – convinces Theodora to become an evil witch with her and help her rule the land of Oz. Both characters are described as incredibly attractive, seductive women, and Theodora likes to wear black, thigh-high boots.
Thigh high boots and seductive witches? Is it Halloween already? I like the sound of this, especially with Robert Downey Jr as Oz.
And my all time favourite comedy is The Whole Nine Yards, and the guys who wrote that offered up the script for this. I am sold.
Now who could they get to play some sexy witches? I’d like to see Nine Yards Alums Natasha Henstridge and Amanda Peet be evil witches!
