One of the staples of The Avengers aside from the roster itself will be the Avengers Mansion complete with a butler suited for superhero needs. But Joss Whedon’s Avengers will be more based out of The SHIELD Helicarrier. A massive Aircraft Carrier type vessel… that flies.
And now we get a look at some of the early concept sketches.
>Now this is rather faithful to the comic book version and they have even chosen to keep its namesake helicopter propulsion system.
Personally, if they are going to stretch physics to the point where they assume a dozen or so props are going to keep this behemoth aloft, they might as well have ditched them entirely and just went with a flying carrier that used superconductor electromagnet fairydust technology. It always bothered me that they expect me to find this impressive vessel plausible with a handful of props keeping it from falling out of the sky. (Yes, I understand the irony that I find this implausible, but superheroes are an acceptable science)
What do you think of the look of the SHIELD Helicarrier?
